Background
Bruna's research interests and academic training are in the field of animal breeding and genetics, primarily focusing on quantitative traits. The projects she has worked on include various animal species and simulated data. The goals were to improve outcomes of genetic evaluations by estimating genetic values, genetic parameters, comparing statistical models, investigating the genetic architecture of complex traits, among other objectives.
In her academic trajectory, she has collaborated with private institutions, universities, and USDA centers. Moreover, she has interacted with distinct research groups. She is highly interested in collaborating with stakeholders to breed healthier, more productive, sustainable, and resilient populations.
She is currently a KTP Associate in Artemia Quantitative Genetics and Breeding, with the goal of addressing quantitative genetics and data systems engineering aspects to ultimately introduce a breeding programme for scalable, affordable, controllable, and sustainable non-ocean fishmeal.
