Research summary
I lead the BIAS Lab research group (Bailey Identity and Social Cognition Lab, www.baileypsychlab.com). We investigate beliefs about social identities and groups, embracing a social cognitive approach. We use quantitative methods from social psychology as well as computational linguistics and experimental philosophy. Much of my work focuses on gender biases and on the tendency to think of a generic ‘person’ as a man. Through our research, we seek to address the psychological roots of unfair social hierarchies to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all. Our work has been covered by popular outlets including 'Scientific American' and 'The New Scientist.'
