Thesis title: Subtitling multilingual films: functions of multilingualism

Background

My research interests are in audiovisual translation, particularly subtitling, and the translation of multilingual films. My thesis deals with case studies of films containing Catalan and Spanish, looking at the functions of multilingualism in relation to plot, characterisation, and style, and discussing various ways these could be translated using innovative subtitling methods.
