Latest information on buying IT equipment (26 July 2021):

As you may be aware there is a global shortage of various electronic elements including chips and other components for computing equipment. This of course is having an impact on manufacturing and lead-times from all suppliers , including HP. We are currently being inundated with a number of chasing communications where equipment has not been delivered in expected timelines due to this.  Such follow up is impacting already stretched resources as well as priority tasks for the University.

Throughout this time we would ask that individual requests are not chased up with Procurement until 10 weeks has elapsed, as they will not be actioned as a priority. We continue to deal with the issue on a more holistic basis.  

We do understand your concerns and are doing everything we can but reiterate this is due to a global supply chain problem.

It is also important to note that individuals should not be buying equipment locally or online.  This impacts our costs, could lead to maintenance and support issues , as well as the potential of double ordering with any University requests.

We continue to monitor and manage the situation and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
