Everything you need to know about the brain, in a box!
Our brains are crucial to everything we think and do; they make us what we are. We want young people to have the best possible understanding of what our brains do, how they work, and how we measure what is happening. That's why we designed the Brain Box, funded by the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology and the Wellcome Trust.
The Brain Box has been developed to allow children to explore the workings of the brain through a series of hands-on interactive activities. By following the clues, children can explore how the brain gets information from the outside world, find out how neurons connect with one another, and even create their own 3D image of a brain.
Sessions are led by our researchers, connecting learners directly with scientists. Workshops are typically aimed at children aged 8 - 12. We can also deliver workshops for older children as part of the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology's schools programme.
