University of York names prize after School's Professor

The University of York has named a prize after Geoffrey K Pullum, our School’s Professor of General Linguistics.

The G. K. Pullum Prize in Linguistics and Mathematics was awarded on Thursday 29 June for the first time, to top student Elisabeth Fritzsch at the University of York.  

Geoffrey Pullum

Geoff is an alumnus of the University of York and currently teaches linguistics here at the School of Philosophy, Psychology & Language Sciences (PPLS) at the University of Edinburgh.

He is a co-author of The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language (2002) and is also known for his contributions to the language blogs Language Log, and Lingua Franca at The Chronicle of Higher Education.
