PPLS student becomes latest ambassador for UK leading charity
Philosophy and Politics student, Ben Isbell, has become the latest ambassador for The OddBalls Foundation, the UK’s leading charity raising awareness of Testicular Cancer.
In this ambassadorial role, Ben will aim to raise awareness of testicular cancer, within the student and local community, by delivering free talks and distributing the iconic 'Check Yourself Guides'.
"To have the opportunity to make a real difference regarding such an important cause was a key motivator for getting involved as an ambassador at the OddBalls Foundation.
I look forward to meeting individuals from all over the University and wider Edinburgh community as I work to spread awareness of testicular cancer. The Foundation has grown so much over the last few years. So, the chance to meet so many other like-minded ambassadors that care about creating a conversation around testicular cancer is very exciting."
Testicular cancer is the most common type of cancer to affect men between the ages of 15 – 49, however, it is unusual compared with other cancers because it tends to affect younger men. Despite this, testicular cancer is one of the most treatable types of cancer when detected early. Therefore, early diagnosis and encouraging regular checking is critically important.
