We celebrated lots of successes across our community in 2022, here’s a highlight of just some of the many staff and student achievements which shaped our year.

January

Oxford University Press names Professor Tommy Curry’s paper as one of the 'Best of Philosophy' 2021.

February

Birthplace of pioneering academic and former Director of the School of Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh, Pit Corder, recognised with blue plaque.

March

Linguistics and English Language Professor, Caroline Heycock, named as a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE).

April

Psychology student, Orestis Michaelides, wins 'Best Overall Conference Presentation' award at 2022 BPS Scottish Undergraduate Research Conference.

May

Psychology PhD tutor, Brittany Blankinship, is shortlisted for Student Tutor of the Year award at the Students’ Association Teaching Awards.

June

PPLS Student Support Team win the CAHSS Recognition Award for Exceptional Team.

July

Success for School as REF 2021 results announced.

August

PPLS alumnus, Hannah Feben-Smith, becomes published author within one month of graduating.

September

PPLS student, Ben Isbell, becomes latest ambassador for UK leading charity.

October

Dr Aja Murray and her team are awarded the Wellcome Data Prize in Mental Health.

Professor Sharon Abrahams is awarded the prestigious Freda Newcombe Prize.

Edinburgh Professors to lead AHRC Programme on AI.
