Established in 2008, the IACAP’s Covey Award recognises senior scholars who have "accomplished innovative research, and teaching that flows from that research, in the field of computing and philosophy broadly conceived".

The award takes its name from Preston K. Covey Jnr, former head of the philosophy department at Carnegie Mellon University. The award is presented annually by the IACAP’s Executive Committee.

Professor Vallor is being recognised for her significant contribution to the field, both in academic as well as public spheres over the last two decades.

"It’s a great honour to be recognised with the Covey Award from IACAP, an organisation that was a vital source of inspiration and mentorship at the start of my career many years ago, and continues to support the next generation of scholars in this increasingly urgent field of interdisciplinary research."
