Title: Can Conceptual Blending Theory help to explain meaning representation in bilinguals?

Abstract: Conceptual Blending Theory, developed by Gilles Fauconnier and Mark Turner, introduces a concept of blending, a process responsible for meaning construction and integrating different pieces of knowledge, especially from seemingly contradictory or unrelated components. I would like to have a look at the premise of Conceptual Blending Theory in relation to a second language acquisition and the construction of meaning in bilingual speakers. I will be using the framework of CBT as introduced by Fauconnier and Turner 1998 & 2002 as a base for the discussion but I will acknowledge some models which were introduced from later assessments of CBT. My main focus will be on meaning and mental representation, but I would like to open the discussion to the question of grammatical processing in bilinguals.
