Linguistics and English Language

Ailie Donald Memorial Prize

A prize is awarded annually for the best second year single Honours Linguistics and/or English Language student going on to study the subject at Honours level.

This prize, worth £1000, is dedicated to the memory of our student Alison Donald, who graduated here with First Class Honours in English Language (1983) and then with a PhD on Old English morphology (1988). Shortly after these achievements, Ailie died of cancer.

The prize was gifted to us by her widower, Martin White.
