Online distance learners
Getting started as an online learner
The University has a dedicated website for new online learners to help you get started.
Matriculation is the process by which you are formally admitted to the University. There are two stages to this process:
In most cases, you will be able to do this before you start at the University.
2. Confirm your attendance and sign up for courses
You must arrange a Skype meeting with your Programme Director to take place during Welcome Week (14-18 September 2020) to have a chat about the year ahead and decide on course enrolments.

Induction Events and Materials
The induction events and materials will be available on the University's service called Learn the week commencing Monday 14 September 2020.
Once on Learn, under the 'Induction' tab of the hub page, you will find information and activities for you to complete such as
- meet and greet sessions with our teaching assistants
- induction discussion forums
- trying out your personal journal
It is vital that you contact Student Administration as soon as possible to confirm your matriculation.
You also need to contact the PPLS Postgraduate Office so we can confirm your attendance and ensure that you are registered on the correct courses.
You also need to arrange a Skype meeting with your Personal Tutor.
PPLS postgraduate students Elizabeth, Eris and Vania talk about what it is like to be a student at the University of Edinburgh.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding matriculation please do not hesitate to get in touch.
