The Human Papillomavirus Research Group organised a charity raffle

Charity Raffle was in order to raise awareness about Cervical Screening.

The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Research Group in Division of Pathology organised a CHARITY RAFFLE on 19th August in order to raise awareness about Cervical Screening. The group received several donations from companies and well-wishers and had an amazing 84 prizes that went into the Raffle. Tickets were sold through extensive fundraising efforts by members of the group - Vaila Robertson, Mara Kont, Marta Calvet, Kate Mathers and Ramya Bhatia which led to raising £880 for this worthy cause.

Cervical cancer affects over 500,000 women worldwide annually with the highest incidence in developing countries. Malawi has the highest incidence in the world. Through collaborative links that the HPV research group and Scottish HPV Investigator’s network (SHINe) has with the Church of Scotland Nkhoma CCAP Hospital in Malawi, we hope that this donation will make a difference in helping the Cervical Screening Programme in Malawi.
