Fellow Prize winners, Polly Swann and Nishad Sanzagiri, are also pictured, along with senior members of staff from the University.

Rosie’s award is in recognition of the invaluable contribution she makes to student life at The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.

As President of the Vet School’s Veterinary Student Council (VSC) in 2016/17, Rosie made a huge impact.

Through her VSC Presidency, Rosie was involved in many activities in the school and played a central role in ensuring that veterinary student voices are heard, particularly in relation to health and wellbeing issues.  She contributed to the first National Mind Matters conference in March 2017 giving a powerful presentation about veterinary student mental health and well-being. The conference was attended by many senior members of the veterinary profession.

More recently, Rosie attended the WHO World Health Assembly in Geneva as part of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations.  Rosie is also an active member of Association of Veterinary Students (AVS) and was recently elected as President of the International Veterinary Students Association (IVSA).

Rosie is an excellent ambassador for both The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and The University of Edinburgh.

We are delighted by this recognition for Rosie. Her contribution and achievements to date are truly outstanding and we are all very proud to have Rosie in our School. Rosie’s creativity, energy and commitment to partnership working are remarkable, managing to balance her own academic studies with these significant contributions to her peers, to the Vet School, and to the profession more broadly.  Rosie is a deserved winner of the Sir William Darling Memorial Prize 2017 and we offer her our warm congratulations.
