Governance and Strategic Planning manage the University's Research Excellence Framework submission and oversee other aspects of research policy and strategy. Other areas in the University also have responsibility for research support including the three Colleges and twenty two schools, Research Support Office, Institute for Academic Development, Research Grant section in Finance and the Library Research Support team.
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) is the system used to assess the quality of research in UK HEIs. Submissions for the next REF will close in November 2020. REF2021 results will be published in December 2021. The results of REF2021 will provide information about the quality of a university's research and are expected to inform research funding.
Research Policy Group
The Research Policy Group meets five times per year to discuss University-wide research policy issues and to receive reports on issues relating to research policy and research integrity from its subgroups
