Safety at the University
Safety and security are always a priority at the University of Edinburgh.
The University campuses are located in the heart of Edinburgh city, and while Edinburgh is a very safe city we encourage our students to be proactive about their personal safety and the security of their possessions.
The University Security team is always available on campus for advice or assistance and are easily recognisable by their red jackets.
Police Scotland and the British Council have published guides which offer advice on staying safe during your time at the University.
The Edinburgh University Students' Association has a section on their website giving advice on staying safe, and instructions for reporting a crime.
The University Security Manager, James Broomfield has written an open letter to parents and guardians of students joining the University of Edinburgh in 2017.
