Accommodation Guarantees and Deadlines

The accommodation guarantee conditions and application deadlines are different for each type of student, please refer to the University Accommodation, Catering and Events website pages below for the information relevant to you. 

If you do not qualify for an accommodation guarantee but still wish to stay in University accommodation you are welcome to submit an application and be added to a waiting list. 

 

How to apply

You will only be able to apply for accommodation once you have accepted an offer (unconditional, conditional or insurance) to study at the University of Edinburgh.
The application process usually opens in March of each year and is now live for students looking to move in at the start of Semester 1 in September 2017. The process will reopen in October 2017 for students wishing to move in at the beginning of Semester 2 in January 2018.

Applications are made using the 'Student Accommodation' hub on MyEd, and you will be asked for your preferred residences out of those available to you.

It is the University’s policy to issue all accommodation offers and receive all acceptances online. Therefore, when submitting an accommodation application, it is important that you provide an email address at which you can be contacted throughout the summer from June to September 2017.

 

 

Receiving a response to your application

For unconditional offer holders who have submitted an accommodation application,  offers of accommodation will be made by the University from June onwards. 

For conditional offer holders, the University will respond to your application once we receive your exam results. 

A requirement of accepting your accommodation offer is to arrange a method of paying accommodation fees (i.e. rent, with catering fees if applicable). Detailed information on paying accommodation fees can be found on the University Accommodation, Catering and Events website.
