Vice-Principal (Interim) Corporate Services

The Principal has announced the newest member of his Senior Leadership Team.

Dr Catherine Martin has been appointed to the role of Vice-Principal (Interim) Corporate Services.  

The Corporate Services Group aims to support operational delivery of the University’s mission, core strategic goals, and the ongoing plans of Colleges, Schools and other support groups.

Dr Martin, Registrar for the College of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, has been appointed for a two-year period beginning on Monday 4 May 2020.

Biography

Dr Catherine Martin holds an MA in English Literature & French and a PhD in French Literature & Language.

After teaching French at the University of St Andrews, she trained as a chartered accountant, working in audit and corporate finance for global accountancy firms, Arthur Andersen, Deloitte and Mazars LLP.

Dr Martin joined the University of Glasgow in 2010 as College Secretary in the College of Arts, from which position she moved to the University of Edinburgh in 2015.

Catherine is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and was until recently a member of the Arts & Humanities Research Council audit committee.

Having held a variety of other non-executive director and trustee roles, she is currently on the board of Edinburgh University Press and is a member of the Scotland Advisory Group for Parkinson's UK.

I am delighted to have this opportunity at what must be one of the most disruptive and challenging times in the University’s history. It will be a privilege to work through those challenges with the talented, dedicated and professional teams within the Corporate Services Group.
