Early-career research event

Early-career research staff are invited to apply to attend an international event on innovation and entrepreneurship.

Researcher in lab

The sixth Universitas 21 Early Career Researchers Workshop will be held 4-6 March at University College Dublin.

The event will aim to increase attendees' research capabilities and enhance skills associated with career development in academia.

It will cater for researchers who gained their doctorate in the past eight years.

How to apply

A provisional programme for the event and an application form are available online.

Forms must be submitted to the University Secretary's Group by 12pm on Friday 16 January.

Applicants will be informed by Wednesday 21 January if they have been selected to attend.

Programme and application form

The University will contribute up to £400 per staff member towards the travel and accommodation costs of attending.

Objective

The workshop will consider what it means and what it takes to be an entrepreneurial academic:

  • interacting meaningfully across disciplines
  • engaging effectively with the public
  • understanding how to be heard by funding agencies and policy-makers.

It will have a strong focus on networking and gaining an international perspective on the role and career route of researchers.

More than 50 early-career researchers from around the world are expected to attend.
