Coronavirus (Covid-19) updates for staff and students

International travel to the UK

What you will need to do if you are travelling to Edinburgh from overseas.

From January 7th, fully vaccinated travellers no longer need to take a pre-departure test before travelling to Scotland from abroad or self-isolate when you arrive.

From 4am on Sunday 9 January, you can choose to take a day 2 lateral flow test after you arrive in Scotland rather than a day 2 PCR test. You can book your day 2 lateral flow test now. If you need to take a day 2 test before 4am on Sunday 9 January, you'll need to take a PCR test.

If you aren't fully vaccinated, you will need to self-isolate for 10 days once you arrive into the UK.

Please make sure to read the Scottish Government travel guidance: International travel to the UK

A red list remains for countries with high case numbers and variants of concern. Travellers from red list countries will need to book and pay for managed isolation in quarantine.
