Coronavirus (Covid-19) updates for staff and students

Travelling home and asymptomatic testing

Information on voluntary asymptomatic testing and how you can get your tests.

We know that many of you will be making plans for your winter holidays. We understand that some of you will be remaining in Edinburgh while others will be going home to see family. With many thousands of students moving around the country before the holidays, it’s really important that we all do what we can to reduce the risk of community transmission of Covid-19 as much as possible.

On 11 November, the Scottish Government announced plans to provide Covid-19 testing on campuses for all students who wish to travel home in the UK for the winter break. You will be able to get a test even if you are showing no symptoms.

We are asking all students to play their part and help protect their families and communities by booking a Covid-19 test. It is easy to do, takes less than ten minutes and our team of staff are on-hand to support you at every step.

When booking your Covid-19 tests, please remember that you must make two separate bookings using this form. Your second booking must ideally be 3 days after the first booking, and as close as possible to your date of departure, which should be no later than 48 hours after your second test.
