The '5 Ways to Wellbeing' are a set of five distinct actions to help improve personal wellbeing:

  1. Connect: Talk and listen, be there, feel connected.
  2. Be active: Do what you can, enjoy what you do, move your mood.
  3. Take notice: Remember the simple things that give you joy.
  4. Keep learning: Embrace new experiences, see opportunities, surprise yourself.
  5. Give: Your time, your words, and your presence.

The Student Counselling service

The Student Counselling service offer a range of self-help resources for for your mental wellbeing including; anxiety, panic attacks and stress. Allowing you to take courses at your own pace, by working through online slides or downloading a workbook.

Mindfulness sessions with the Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy runs online mindfulness sessions every Tuesday and Friday from 13:10-13:50. These sessions use meditation and mindfulness to help you to stay calm, focused and better manage the pressures you may be experiencing.


The Feeling Good App

The Feeling Good App can reduce stress, depression and anxiety, and calm the body and mind.

The app is free for all students and provides positive mental training through a self-help programme.

Clear Your Head

A resource developed by the Scottish Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tips and advice on things you can do to help clear your head.

Using your University email address, you can access Togetherall which is available 24/7 and monitored by trained clinicians.  It is a safe place online to get things off your chest, have conversations, express yourself creatively and learn how to manage your mental health.



SilverCloud offers mental health treatment programmes based around Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

Students have free access to complete interactive courses focused on depression, anxiety, stress and positive body image.



Headspace is an app featuring a wide range of guided mindfulness and meditation activities. You can choose from hundreds of guided activities on everything from managing stress and anxiety to sleep, productivity, exercise, and physical health. You can purchase reduced student membership through Spotify by using your University email.
