Global Horizons festival launch

The International Office has launched the Global Horizons festival for 2011-12.

Global Horizons is about highlighting, celebrating and promoting the diversity and benefits of our international student population.

This festival is a recognition of how much the University and the local community are enriched by our diverse mix of people.

This year the Global Horizons festival has expanded - for the first time international themed events will run in both autumn and spring.

Global Horizons in autumn

The autumn programme includes:

  • "Edinburgh Discovered" photography competition
  • Study Abroad Fair
  • Global Food Fest
  • Global Star Awards

Global Horizons in spring

The spring festival will run from 20-24 February 2012.

The full programme of events is still to be announced, but will include a mix of events for:

  • University students
  • University staff
  • School students
  • Members of the community

Events in Global Horizons 2010 emphasised culture, debate, fun and inclusion - there was a Bhangra Dance workshop; a Georgian Singing workshop; an international-themed film competition; a Mexican Fiesta night; a mini World Cup event and a concert featuring dance, music and performance from around the globe.

Global Horizons also features information sessions about studying/working abroad and debates about key global issues.
