Grainger looking to turn silver into gold

Britain’s most successful female rower, Edinburgh alumna Katherine Grainger, will take part in her fourth Olympics.

Anna Watkins and Katherine Grainger

Grainger, who took up the sport while studying law at Edinburgh, has been named in the Team GB squad and will compete in the double scull with partner Anna Watkins.

Having secured silver medals at her three previous Games, Grainger is determined to use home advantage to go one better this time and clinch gold.

If I hadn’t gone to Edinburgh, I would never have picked up rowing. It has a great club – really hard-working, but friendly and relaxed; all the things a university club should be.
