The University’s Centre for Sport and Exercise has officially opened its new climbing wall and bouldering facility, part of an ongoing programme of developments.
The climbing wall, The Tower, stands at 8 metres high and has 25 individual route corridors. It features a very effective and realistic climbing experience.
The bouldering facility, the Rock, incorporates an expansive 135 square metres of bouldering surface.
Based at the Pleasance Sports Centre, the Tower and the Rock offer a challenge to both novice and experienced climbers.
The Tower and the Rock are the latest in a series of ongoing developments for the Centre for Sport and Exercise.
Recent improvements include a new £1.4M state-of-the-art CV (cardiovascular) fitness gym and a new astroturf pitch at Peffermill playing fields.
Plans are also in place for a £5.5M extension at the Pleasance Sport Centre, creating an additional 2000 sqm of sport and exercise space over three levels.

The Tower and The Rock are open from Monday to Friday 11.15am to 9.30pm, and 11.15am to 5.30pm at the weekend.
