Winter graduations

Our winter graduation ceremonies take place between Monday 26 November and Friday 30 November 2018.

Inventor of the bionic hand David James Gow and director of the CSMVS – one of Mumbai’s major museums – Sabyasachi Mukherjee are among those receiving honorary awards.

Also being honoured are three Edinburgh members of staff who have advanced support for gender equality.

Professor Helen Sang, Dr Vicky MacRae and Catherine Eastwood will jointly be awarded the Principal’s Medal for leading the Roslin Institute’s Athena SWAN activities.

Honorary graduates

Mr Sabyasachi Mukherjee, director of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) –  formerly Prince of Wales Museum – Mumbai, will be awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor honoris causa on Tuesday 27 November.

Dr Naushad D Forbes, co-chairman of Forbes-Marshall and former president of the Confederation of Indian Industry, will be awarded Doctor honoris causa on Tuesday 27 November.

Professor Nicola Lacey, criminal law theorist, will be awarded Doctor of Laws on Wednesday 28 November.

Professor William Stirling, former director of Institut Laue Langevin in Grenoble, France, will be awarded Doctor of Science on Thursday 29 November.

Karen Christiana Figueres Olsen, former executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, will be awarded Doctor honoris causa on Thursday 29 November.

David James Gow, head of SMART Services at NHS Scotland and inventor of the bionic hand, will be awarded Doctor of Science on Thursday 29 November.

Professor Helen Sang, Dr Vicky MacRae and Catherine Eastwood will be jointly awarded the Principal's Medal for Exceptional Service on Friday 30 November 2018 for leading the Roslin Institute’s Athena SWAN related activities and advancing support of gender equality.
