Student awards celebrate success stories
Achievements by students, lecturers and support staff are being celebrated as a series of student-led awards gets under way.
Prizes are being presented by Edinburgh University Students’ Association over the next few weeks to recognise outstanding work within the University community.
Now in their third year, the Activities Awards were presented on Monday, 26 March, in the Assembly Rooms on George Street.
The awards – which received nearly 900 nominations – recognise the achievements of student societies and volunteer groups.
Among the winners were Edinburgh University Swing Dance Society, which was named Most Welcoming Society, and Danielle Hall, who picked up the Committee Member of the Year award.
On Thursday, 5 April, the Impact Awards will celebrate inspiring work in three areas – student representation, global experiences, and peer learning and support.
The awards are an opportunity to recognise exceptional students who have a positive impact on their fellow students.
The Teaching Awards offer students a chance to acknowledge staff who have had the biggest impact on their studies.
These can include outstanding tutors, teachers, supervisors and support staff.
The nine awards will be presented at a ceremony on Thursday, 26 April.
