Sporting students strike gold on big stage

Five Edinburgh students have won gold medals at two major sporting championships.

A total of five medals were shared by Kathryn Greenslade, Lucy Hope and Grace Reid at the LEN European Swimming Championships in Glasgow.

Medical student Kathryn took gold in the Women’s 200m Freestyle Relay and bronze in the Mixed 200m Freestyle Relay.

Lucy, who is studying accounting and finance, won gold in the Women’s 200m Freestyle Relay.

Sports science student Grace Reid claimed gold in the Women’s 3m Springboard and silver in the Mixed 3m Springboard.

Meanwhile at the FISU World Universities Rowing Championships in Shanghai, there were golds for Biomedical studies Lydia Currie in the Women’s 8+ and engineering student Oli Wilkes in the Men’s 4.
