Costume drama

In five shows over two days, graduating students in Performance Costume will showcase their colourful creations through a series of evocative performances.

Their jaw-dropping costumes are designed for a range of productions for theatre, film, opera, dance, puppetry, circus and their own invented stories.

Graduates have gone on to have successful careers in film, TV and stage productions across the world.

Recent graduates are working on TV series such as Game of Thrones, Outlander and Taboo, as well as Hollywood blockbusters Cinderella, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Jurassic World.

They also work with world-leading stage companies such as the Royal Opera House and Northern Ballet.

Front Row

Fashion’s runway event – Front Row: Edinburgh College of Art Fashion Show 2017 – takes a fresh approach to the traditional fashion show.

The runway in the National Museum of Scotland’s Grand Gallery will be designed so that every audience member will have a front row seat.

This new approach aims to make the event inclusive and accessible to all, eliminating the norms of fashion hierarchy.

Latest designs

The event is sponsored Cazenove Capital Management and is co-curated by the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival. Legal firm Turcan Connell is also providing sponsorship support.

Front Row will feature the latest designs by final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The Edinburgh College of Art designers have used pioneering techniques and innovative concepts to create a diverse and exciting show.

Platform for success

The Edinburgh College of Art Fashion Programme has established a clear reputation as a leader in fashion education.

In 2016, students scooped first, second and third place in the British Fashion Council Burberry Awards, and first place for the British Fashion Council Topman Award.

Students have also received many leading Graduate Fashion Week Awards. They have gone on to work for leading brands including Balenciaga, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Vivienne Westwood and Calvin Klein.

The programme also advocates increased diversity in the fashion design industries by encouraging students to show emotional consideration for the buyer.
