The University of Edinburgh has announced new funding for UK and EU masters students who are starting their studies in 2016/17.

We have a long tradition of attracting students with academic potential, enabling the best minds of our generation to succeed at University whatever their circumstances.

If you are thinking of applying for a postgraduate masters, we can help make your studies more affordable.

More than 170 awards worth up to £10,000 are available to UK and EU students starting a full-time, one-year masters programme.

Awards are based on academic merit and are designed to attract the brightest students in their chosen academic fields.

The awards - worth a total of £1 million - are being made available through two University-funded schemes:

  • UK/EU Masters Scholarships
  • UK Masters Access Awards

UK/EU Masters Scholarships

More than 150 Masters Scholarships are available for the 2016/17 academic session for UK and EU nationals.

Twenty scholarships have a value of £10,000. The remaining awards each have a value of £4,500.

The scholarship will automatically be deducted from your tuition fees, with any remaining funds being awarded towards living costs.

The application deadline is 2 May 2016.

UK/EU Masters Scholarships

UK Masters Access Awards

Twenty UK Masters Access Awards - each worth £10,000 - are also available for the 2016/17 academic session for UK nationals.

The award will automatically be deducted from your tuition fees, with any remaining funds being awarded towards living costs.

To be eligible, you should either:

  • have started your undergraduate career at the University of Edinburgh as a care-leaver
  • be a Scottish Wider Access Programme participant or a Lothians Equal Access Programme for Schools participant
  • have received a University of Edinburgh Bursary, a Scotland Accommodation Bursary or a University Access Bursary

The application deadline is 2 May 2016.

How to apply

To apply for an award, you must first apply for an eligible programme at the University of Edinburgh. (All full-time, one-years masters programmes are eligible.)
