University community praised
A newly-elected Member of Parliament has praised the University during a speech in the House of Commons.
Tommy Sheppard, the new MP for Edinburgh East, talked about the valued role academics and students play in the community.
The Edinburgh East constituency includes the University’s central area and the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at Little France.
MPs have also been elected for other city constituencies that are home to our campuses at King’s Buildings, the Western General Hospital and Easter Bush.
Global student body
The University has welcomed international students to Edinburgh for many years. Its thriving alumni community comprises more than 220,000 people from 185 countries.
Today it has one of the most diverse international populations of any Scottish university with students from more than 140 different nations studying throughout the city.
