Divinity's largest scholarship launched

The School of Divinity has announced its largest ever scholarship programme to promote the study of Christianity across the world.

The Kirby Laing International Scholarship Programme will bring emerging church leaders and theologians from Africa, China, India and Latin America to the University of Edinburgh for short, concentrated periods of study.

Cross-cultural dialogue

The £800,000 programme will link successful Masters students with local churches, helping them gain practical skills in ministry, before they return to their home countries empowered to continue their careers and work with local communities.

The scholarships will help and encourage more students from non-Western countries to benefit from New College’s internationally renowned and centuries-old Christian education and create a positive cross-cultural dialogue within the School of Divinity.

The Kirby Laing Foundation

The programme has been made possible by a gift from the Kirby Laing Foundation. Established in 1972 by Sir Kirby Laing, the Foundation supports a wide range of charities both in the UK and abroad.
