A documentary made at Edinburgh College of Art has been nominated for an Oscar.
The short documentary, Karam Has No Walls, was directed by Sara Ishaq while studying her MFA at the ECA Film Dept in 2011.
It is one of the eight films that will compete in the Best Documentary Short category at the 86th Academy Awards on 2 March in Hollywood.
Karam Has No Walls encapsulates the events of 18 March 2011 in Yemen. More than 50 protesters were killed after midday prayers in the protest camp known as Change Square in Sana'a, Yemen.
The day became known as the Friday of Dignity and was a turning point in the Yemeni uprising against former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Sara, who is half Yemeni, half Scottish, directed the film as part of her MFA at ECA and Screen Academy Scotland.
This is the second ECA Film graduate in recent years to be shortlisted for an Oscar. Tali Yankelevich was nominated in 2013 for her film The Perfect Fit, which she made after graduating in 2010.
