The theme of the competition was "Be Edinburgh". Students were asked to think about the city, the culture, the University, the people, the buildings, and the things they have seen and done.

The competition winners were chosen by photographer Jane Barlow at The Scotsman newspaper from a shortlist of the entries picked by the University's Photography Society.
Further small prizesn for favourite photos were awarded to: Adam Blašík, Ekaterina Shirkina, Ahmad Faiq Abdul Halim, Zhiyong Li, Ofita Purwani, Esther Park, Tereza Videra and Meng Ran Tie.
