Event leads debate on EU future

Edinburgh’s Professor of International Politics will speak at a one-off event that explores the future of Europe.

The Europe in the World conference, which will take place in Edinburgh on 21 February 2013, will see Dr John Peterson discuss topical issues with politicians from three of the main political parties.

Organised by the Foreign Policy Centre, a UK-based think-tank, and the European Commission in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, this event is the first of its kind in Scotland.

The debate is free of charge and open to the public.

Diverse speakers

Those who attend the event will have the chance to hear a wide spectrum of voices speak about Europe.

As well as Dr Peterson, the speakers will be Labour MEP David Martin, Scottish Nationalist Party MSP Claire Adamson and Lord Fraser of Carmyle of the Conservative Party.

On the pulse

The debate will explore a range of matters concerning Europe and their impact on the world stage.

Speakers will also discuss the highly topical issue of Scotland and the UK’s role in the European Union.

Publication launch

The event will also launch a publication, Europe in the World: Can EU Foreign Policy Make an Impact?

Attendees to the event will be provided a complimentary copy.
