Patricia Heyn
Born & Raised Leipzig, Germany
Education & previous employment I obtained a Diploma in Biochemistry from the University of Leipzig. For my Diploma thesis I studied ancient DNA damage using next-generation sequencing (Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig). For my PhD studies I switched field and investigated when and how transcription is turned on during embryogenesis (PhD in Biology, Neugebauer lab, Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics; Dresden University of Technology).
Scientific interests Developmental roles of DNA and chromatin modifiers in organism growth. I am especially intrigued by the question how fast proliferating cells during embryogenesis coordinate gene expression, chromatin organization and replication. These cellular processes have important roles in regulating organism growth.
Outside interests Travelling (I try to visit as many of the highest waterfalls on earth as possible!).
