MRC Human Genetics Unit data resources for schools

Staff and researchers from the MRC Human Genetics Unit are working with the lead biology teachers for Edinburgh and their colleagues to create a real data resource to allow students to explore genetic and phenotypic data as part of their Scottish Qualifications Authority Nat5 or Higher Biology Assignment.

This resource pack uses data from the MRC Human Genetics Unit and provides information on:

  • Genetic variation/ DNA mutations
  • Genetic basis of disease risk
  • Human population cohort studies and methods
  • Genes and Proteins in Health and Disease
  • Human Genomics
  • Expression of genotype and protein production

An accompanying teacher's resource is available. Teachers - please email your regional lead biology teacher to obtain this.

Questions on this pack or other school engagement opportunities may be addressed to communications@igmm.ed.ac.uk

We have created online surveys for teachers and students to allow feedback on the pack and potentially improvements and would appreciate your feedback
