The MRC Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the University of Edinburgh comprises:

MRC Human Genetics Unit

The MRC Human Genetics Unit is at the forefront of research into the genetic mechanisms underlying human disease and associated biology, and aims to translate this knowledge into patient benefit. The Unit has three key research themes: 

  • Disease Mechanisms

  • Biomedical Genomics

Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine

The Centre for Genomic and Experimental Medicine (formerly the Molecular Medicine Centre) provides a first class research and training environment in clinically relevant molecular biology and genetics research. The Centre comprises three University Academic Research Sections and one NHS Service Section.

The Centre for Population Health Sciences brings together researchers with expertise in epidemiology, statistics and modelling, sociology, social policy, psychology, economics, geography, health promotion, nursing and medicine. It draws on a long history of public health and general practice at the University of Edinburgh.
