Edinburgh Clinical Academic Track (ECAT)

ECAT SUSTAIN meeting 2019

The second ECAT SUSTAIN meeting was held on 27 & 28 March

This was the second ECAT SUSTAIN meeting - the inaugural meeting was held in October 2017.  The format of the meeting is based on the very successful Academy of Medical Science’s AMS SUSTAIN programme for women in the early stages of their research careerThis innovative programme of training and support aims to develop participants’ leadership and career potential.

The ECAT SUSTAIN programme, open to both women and men, was this year held at Edinburgh's prestigious Caledonian Waldorf Astoria Hotel.  It offered ECAT postdocs, SCREDS Clinical Lecturers and final year ECAT PhD students the chance to spend two full days concentrating on a variety of topics and skills such as personal impact, pitching ideas, developing resilience, co-coaching, networking and planning.

Speakers included Peter Bishop (PBP Life Coaching), Simon Cain (Westbourne Training & Consulting) and Sara Shinton (Institute for Academic Development, The University of Edinburgh).
