Since graduating in 1991, I have worked as a physiotherapist in a range of health care settings in the UK, Australia, Sri Lanka and more recently California.  In 1997, I completed an MSc in Community Health and, in 2014, I attained the degree of PhD on the measurement of physical activity in preschool children. I have worked in Higher Education since 2001, firstly as a lecturer in Physiotherapy at Glasgow Caledonian University, then at Queen Margaret University, before moving to California where I worked as Associate Faculty at Sacramento State University on their Doctoral Programme in Physical Therapy.  In 2018, I returned with my family to the UK to take up the position of programme lead for Physiotherapy at Napier University, where I successfully led on the design and development of a new MSc curriculum.

Through these roles, I have developed a wealth of experience in designing and delivering high quality, innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment, as well as being experienced in the supervision of undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral-level students. I also have an established record in pedagogical research.

In addition to my new role at Edinburgh University as an academic co-ordinator, I also work part-time as a clinical education lead in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy within NHS Fife to support clinical education.

I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an Education Representative for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
