Our dedicated laboratory facilities are located alongside the two major hospitals in Edinburgh which allows close interactions with clinicians across a wide range of disease areas.

Sucessful academic and industry collaborations

Working with Edinburgh Innovations (University of Edinburgh's commercialisation service) we take a flexible approach to academic and industry partnerships and this has led to successful collaborations with the pharmaceutical industry including joint efforts with GSK, AstraZeneca, Galapagos, Eli Lilly, Sanofi-Genzyme and several biotechnology companies.

Our collaborative model combines complimentary expertise in technology development, biological screening, synthetic chemistry, drug development and clinical research thus providing a translational link between academia, clinical research and industry.

Patents

We have successfully leveraged our expertise in all aspects of drug discovery research to obtain patents for novel compounds, drug delivery systems, screening assays and biomarkers to support clinical trial design.

Medicine

Our activities are goal-driven with a clear vision of the final medicine in areas of unmet therapeutic need. As a result our research has produced clinical stage compounds and translated novel target hypotheses into distinctive drug discovery projects.
