Edinburgh International Science Festival
The University of Edinburgh is presenting science in an interactive way, suitable for children and adults of all age groups from 9 - 22 April 2011.
The College of Medicine and Veterinary medicine are hosting the following two events:
Organ Transplants: From Bench to Bedside
Do you know someone who has suffered from organ failure? The latest UK figures from 2009-10 tell us that 3698 patients received organ transplants, with a total of almost 8000 patients registered for a transplant during the same period. This event will give an insight into the experiences of a transplant patient, Ms Roxan Buys, the problems and issues faced by Mr John Casey, a transplant surgeon, and Professor Jamie Davies will explain how scientists are working to tackle the chronic shortage of transplant organs. Audience: 14+

Discover Science: Medical Detectives
