Tissue Repair student Niamh McNamara wins BioRender 2020 Graphical Abstract Prize

Niamh McNamara picks up prizes in BioRender competition with graphical representation of her PhD research.

Congratulations to Tissue Repair PhD student Niamh McNamara on her recent sucess in the BioRender 2020 competition.  Niamh is based in the lab of  Dr Veronique Miron,  where she is investigating the role of microglia in perinatal brain injury and repair.

Niamh's Graphical Abstract submission was awarded a 'Experts Choice Finalist' and 'Honorable Mention' in the BioRender 2020 competition.

For the competition, a panel of 1,500 Principal Investigators and Senior Scientists served as expert judges across eight life science fields. Using a set of leading visual design criteria and scientific expertise, judges selected the top entries.

"I entered this competition as I thought it just sounded like something fun to do when we were in lockdown, but I am so glad that I did! It was so interesting to step back and think about how best to graphically represent my research for a non-specialist audience, and I learned a lot about science communication and the important role that images have to play in it."
