The Wellcome Trust Four-year PhD programme in Tissue Repair provides outstanding postgraduate students with a four-year studentship and with world-class teaching and research training at five cutting-edge Research Centres across Edinburgh Medical School.

Tissue Repair Studentship

Tissue Repair PhD students are awarded a studentship which includes their stipend, tuition fees (at the UK/EU rate) and a contribution towards research costs - all for the full four years. The Tissue Repair studentship also provides specific funds which may be used for travel and training, including that related to transferable skills and professional development.

Several Tissue Repair studentships are awarded each year, partly funded by the Wellcome Trust and by the College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine. For 2019 up to seven studentships were available for outstanding candidates.

Oversees students will have to cover the fee difference between the UK/EU rate covered by the Tissue Repair studentship and the international rate chargeable to an overseas postgraduate student. The University of Edinburgh awards scholarships to outstanding overseas research students under the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships, designed to attract high quality overseas students. Each scholarship will cover the difference between tuition fee for an UK/EU postgraduate student and that chargeable to an overseas postgraduate students. The Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships  do not cover maintenance expenses or research costs. For more information about the scheme and how to apply, see the web link below.
