Protected Characteristics

The Equality Act 2010 lists nine protected characteristics where discrimination is unlawful.

The nine protected characteristics are:

• Age
• Disability
• Gender reassignment
• Marriage and civil partnership
• Pregnancy and maternity
• Race
• Religion or belief
• Sex
• Sexual Orientation
