Protected Characteristics

The Equality Act 2010 lists nine protected characteristics where discrimination is unlawful.

Flexible working

Flexible working requests for permanent changes to working patterns and temporary or rolling requests to help staff through difficult situations.

Family friendly initiatives

As an employer of choice, the University of Edinburgh aims to support staff in achieving a healthy work/life balance, recognising that many staff will have family responsibilities and that all staff will have occasional need to be absent from work to attend to personal or domestic emergencies.
