Tuition Fees and Living Costs

Tuition Fees

The fees for the 2018/2019 Operational Research and Statistics MSc programmes  have not yet been announced. However, the fees are expected to increase by about 4-5% over the following 2017/2018 levels:

  • £ 10,800 for United Kingdom or European Union students,
  • £ 20,100 for overseas students.

The fee covers the costs of registration, tuition and examination.

Living Costs

The fee does not cover the costs of accommodation and subsistence in Edinburgh.

The cost of living can vary greatly depending on your lifestyle, budget and spending habits. However, using the University's estimated lower and upper costs of living in Edinburgh, you should expect to pay about £7,500-15,000 for living expenses over the year.

Scholarships and Funding

Data Lab scholarships

The School had four full-fee scholarships to award to eligible students on the programmes in OR with Data Science, Statistics  with Data Science and Computational Mathematical Finance in 2017-18 thanks to support from Data Lab. We expect to be able to offer a similar number of scholarships for study in 2018-19.  To be eligible for a Data Lab scholarship you must have been made an offer of a place on one of the three programmes listed above and be an EU national who has been resident in Scotland or a non-UK EU nation for the past three years. Applications should be made by email to ORMSc@ed.ac.uk,  StatsMSc@ed.ac.uk or CMFMSc@ed.ac.uk respectively, with a (likely) deadline of 31 May 2018. In addition to covering the full tuition fee, Data Lab scholars will be invited to events hosted through the year by Data Lab and will have the opportunity to undertake an external dissertation project sourced by Data Lab.
