How to apply for Operational Research MSc programmes.
Competition for places to study the Operational Research MSc programmes is expected to be greater than in previous years, so please apply as soon as possible. That said, we will always make offers to sufficiently strong applicants at any point before the start of the programme.
All students on the programme are required to have a certain level of mathematical and English skills described in detail in the eligibility section and strong computing skills can compensate for lower levels of other skills. Note that to apply it is not necessary to satisfy the English language requirements. An offer conditional on providing a satisfactory language certificate can be made.
Note that it is not necessary to have satisfied the English language requirements when you submit your application. Each year, many offers are made conditional on providing a satisfactory certificate of proficiency. Language certificates are not required if you have been educated in a country where English is the main language. However, for the English requirement to be waived, it is not normally sufficient to have been taught through the medium of English.
Note that only one reference is now required. If you graduated within the past 3 years then this should be an academic reference, otherwise an employment reference is sufficient. During the application process, it may appear that the details of two referees are required but this can be circumvented by entering the details of a single referee twice.
Applications are made online via the Postgraduate Degree Finder:
- Operational Research MSc
- Operational Research with Data Science MSc
- Operational Research with Computational Optimization MSc
- Operational Research with Risk MSc
You may switch between one OR programme and another [in June] assuming you are qualified to do so on the grounds of your course and project registrations.
