Entry requirements for the Computational Mathematical Finance MSc.
Entry requirements for this programme are detailed on the Postgraduate Degree Finder.
Applicants should have a good first degree (comparable to UK first class or upper second class honours degree), in Mathematics or a degree with significant mathematical component (e.g. a degree in some physical science).
We advise that, in most cases, applicants with degrees in Accounting, Business, Economics or Finance do not meet this requirement.
More specifically we are looking for the following skills:
Applicants should have done the majority of the following courses as part of their first degree:
- Real Analysis
- Linear Algebra
- Differential Equations
Applicants should have done at least one semester undergraduate programming course (in any language e.g. C, C++, Java, Python) passed with a good grade. This would equip applicants with understanding of flow control, methods / functions and some basics of data structures.
If the applicant's first first language is not English or the entire first degree is not from a British University, then we will need evidence of the applicant's English language ability.
See the English Skills section for details of what is required.
