Our community fund helps community groups tackle vital social issues is inviting new applications. The Edinburgh Local Community Grants scheme distributes £50,000 a year to help develop community activities and sustainable initiatives. So far, the scheme has given more than £150,000 to 38 projects in the Edinburgh area since October 2017.

The new round of funding opens on 20 March 2019 and will award grants of up to £5000 per project. Applications close on 15 April 2019. Additionally, as of March 2019, you can apply for up to £500 at any time.

Previous grants recipients

Previously recipients include a student-run clinic offering free veterinary care for pets of homeless people. The community grant funded additional clinics to help meet demand. Other beneficiaries include a sustainable beekeeping project helping vulnerable young people connect with nature, and a charity supporting women suffering from domestic abuse, poverty and poor mental health.

Successful projects must make a positive social impact, create learning opportunities and increase engagement between the University and local communities. Applications are invited from not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises in Edinburgh, Fife, the Lothians and the Scottish Borders.

We hope we can contribute to communities and support some of the fantastic local organisations who are doing great work in the Edinburgh region.
